There are many things to look forward to in 2008, I even have a list of those somewhere I wanted to post but somehow I’ve lost it for now. Anyway, here’s one thing that I won’t miss : Ane Brun’s new album Changing Of The Seasons. This 3rd studio effort is due for March -In Scandinavia, but that’s never stopped me!

The first single for this brand new album was just released. It’s entitled The Puzzle and features Ane’s recognizable voice and tone, her stunning guitar work plus some violins that bring some dramatic feeling to the whole piece while the subtle percussions help the sound slightly bounce around.

I know what you’re thinking now : Is it March yet? Well, I wish.

The title for this entry are the opening words for one of the best movies I’ve seen lately. It’s a clever comedy about life, love, growing up… and the bumps along the way.

Juno is one of those feel-good movies that you pick when you need something to cheer you up. The comedy relies most on the sharp dialogues and leaves the viewer with way too many memorable quotes. Ellen Page stars as Juno, a sixteen year old who gets pregnant and decides to give away her unborn child for adoption and does a fantastic job! The supporting cast (Michael Cera, Jennifer Garner, Jason Bateman, Allison Janney, J.K. Simmons, Olivia Thirlby) plays right and flawlessly.

The film also has a brilliant soundtrack with many songs by Kimya Dawson (who’s one half of The Moldy Peaches) as well as some Belle & Sebastian or Cat Power. So there, a good comedy with well chosen music and great actors, that’s the perfect match! Don’t miss it.

Twin Souls Of Sulfur is one of the many projects of Forest Christenson (Pretty Balanced, Solarist, Starving Goliath) who produces, plays the violin, mandolin, drums, and synthesizers while Allison DeWitt is in charge of the vocals and the occasional kazoo.

Today has been a bad day. When a friend came up to me to remind me that she’d be there when I feel like talking about what’s wrong these days all I had to say was : “when I speak, I leak” [which is a nerdy reference to Third Rock From The Sun]. Anyway, I chose a movie to cheer me up : Little Miss Sunshine! Because it makes me both laugh and cry and has a cool moral to it :

“You know what? Fuck beauty contests. Life is one fucking beauty contest after another. School, then college, then work… Fuck that. And fuck the Air Force Academy. If I want to fly, I’ll find a way to fly. You do what you love, and fuck the rest.“

This morning, a gem resurfaced on my playlist -along with the 9 other songs of the album [I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning]- but I’ll only focus on #4 for today. I had listened to this song a million times before but somehow a line particularly hit me, for no real reason but it was this one : “We might die from medication, but we sure killed all the pain“. Maybe it was so I could quote it this evening in a conversation with a friend I hadn’t seen in more than a year. Who knows?
