Tegan and Sara rocked and entertained Cologne

Driving 350 kms [and another 350 back, of course] and crossing two borders [or four depending on the itinary], that’s what it takes to get to see my favourite twins play. We arrived in Cologne around 1:30pm, had lunch at Bagel Station then took a walk to the venue to see if there was already hundreds of fans camping there. Luckily, there wasn’t. So we went on a tour of downtown Cologne, mostly browsing through the many shops of the city. Until it was time for dinner at Stadtgarten. By 6pm, we were lining up with about 50 people at the doors, which would only open an hour later.Despite the concert supposedly starting at 07:30pm, Karl Larsson of Swedish band Last Days Of April only took the stage at 08pm. He did quite a good job playing his songs solo to a very talkative audience for about 25 mins. The atmosphere was getting very hot as the venue was fully packed. The RnB/Dance music playing when the final touches were made to the stage may not have been the best choice but as soon as Song Within A Song started playing, it didn’t matter anymore. It’s the short instrumental song from the The Con: The Movie DVD and it’s the song the band enters the stage to.

A song : KT Tunstall – Hold On

kt-holdon.jpg

This is the first single off of KT Tunstall’s second album (Drastic Fantastic due September 10.) and honestly, I really like how it sounds! I first saw the video yesterday and wasn’t impressed but the song stands out better without the distraction of the images. So here it is, coolness for the ears :

CD Review : Scanners – Violence Is Golden

The debut album for London based band brings in their edgy indie rock sound. It’s dark, it’s kinda dirty or raw and Sarah’s voice reminds me of PJ Harvey or Shirley Manson at times.

CD Review : Eisley – Combinations

After their quite brilliant debut album Room Noises, Eisley comes back in 2007 with Combinations an eclectic collection of melodic indie pop songs that draws closer to the sad side than their previous effort.

Silence all these days..

The lack of updates is due to multiple factors I won’t list here but they were very time consumming. Today is one of those bad Sundays when I only wish I were all alone. Here’s the song that goes along with my mood :
